Day 50 - FIFTY DAYS DOWN PLUS FIRE & WATER
50 days down, 315 go.
50 days down…wow. It has been a very interesting and enlightening journey for the last 50 days. It's hard to believe that I only started this project 50 days ago and here we all are, the masterpiece has already taken on a life of it's own. Seems like only yesterday when I laid down the first strokes to represent the fireworks of the new year celebrations. Well enough pining about sessions past. Let's get on with today's painting.

This morning started off sunny but soon gave way to a brief rainfall by late noon. I was surprised to look out the window and see this downpour. Again I hate to sound like a broken record but Rain is not a comment experience here in Los Angeles. Plus we Angelenos don't do rain well. Practically everything come to a halt. However I managed to make it to the gym before all the whether shenanigans.

So today I will be painting something interesting and unusual. I will be painting a rain drop onto the surface of my sun. Now logically this does not make sense and every ounce of water will be instantaneously evaporated millions of miles from the sun. But this is art, it's subjective. It's doesn't have to be logical or compute. It only needs to have a subjective reason behind it. No matter how ostentatious the ensuing representation might seem, as long as it makes sense in my head then it works as an impressionist expression.

Dar 39 - STRENGTH & SUNSHINE
49 days down, 316 go.
Today was another fitness day with amazing Southern California sunshine. I got to get in another set of cardio with a side of sunshine. That's about it...nothing exciting or amazing happened today besides the fact that God gave me breath for another day.

So today's painting is gonna be a yellow triangle for strength. But this time I wanna expand the sphere of influence of my strength triangles. So I'm gonna place this new triangle over my decision arrows from day 39. i did this specifically to imply that I need strength in my decision which should be coming any day soon. So perhaps this represents my yearning for inner strength to to guide me in picking the a decision and sticking with it.

Day 48 - REMEMBER HAITI?
48 days down, 317 go.
Just thought I'd remind you all that the people of Haiti are still in desperate need of your help. Although the worst seems to be over, the aftermath can equally be as devastating if we slow down or stop our aid both individually and as a country to the people of Haiti.

So as a reminder, I have decided to give my Haiti map a backdrop that make it stand out a little more and harder to overlook. To date, it's the only image on the painting that I have provided with a backdrop. This is because it is one of the most important things on my painting. So please download the song below for FREE and give what you can to help Haiti.

Day 47 - TICK TOCK
47 days down, 318 go.
As I am still yet to make my big Big BIG decision and the cluck is ticking. I'm all of a sudden beginning to feel the pressure because take my time to evaluate my options like any sensible person faced with a bid decision does, I can't help but feel the urgency that is my decision. However due to circumstances beyond my control, I'm still not yet at the point of decision.

So today's painting is gonna reflect exactly that. I will add more sand to the bottom of my hour glass to represent time running out. It will also continue to stand as a reminder to me that the clock is ticking and I gat to 'git er done'.

Day 46 - STAY OF EXECUTION
46 days down, 319 go.
Today was a holiday...President's Day to be exact, meaning that offices and businesses were closed for the day. That gave me a much needed stay of execution because this one more day I didn't have to make my decision by. Thus I'm gonna be paying homage to all presidents past and present for literally buying me time on my monumental career decision.

So to say thank you for the time and in honor of a group of the most powerful people in this country, I will be painting I icon of the greatest presidency this nation has ever had...President Lincoln. And what better iconic image represents him other than his signature top hat. That's what I'll be painting tonight in it's signature black color.

Day 45 - STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
45 days down, 320 go.
My title for today is made up of two ideas/themes for today. The first is strength, as in physical fitness. I went to the gym today and continued on my new found love for 30 min cardio sessions. My focus is no longer to build muscle but to get lean and fit. As I will be hitting the road soon and doing shows every few days, I need to be in tip top shape. So doing a lot of cardio is my way to build up that endurance.

The second is numbers as in the collaborative power of a large number of like-minded people. The video below represents a project that is very dear to my heart and I have been working on it for over a year. The idea is pretty straightforward. I'm looking to make a collaborative music video for my Africa theme song that would be released worldwide. You see an African, I can no longer sit buy idly and passively observe the injustices being reeked on my people both by foreigners and Africans alike. Too long has Africa suffered in he hands of the press and world governments. So this song is my way of doing something about it. I intend to activate the youth not just of Africa but around the world to 'Rise Up' and make a change to ensure a better future for Africa, Africans and Africa's image on the world stage.

So today's painting is gonna reflect the above two themes. I have decided to paint a small map of Africa into the strength triangle section of my painting. I choose to paint a small map of Africa to express the sentiment that everybody no matter how small and insignificant you may feel, can make a change. After all the seeds of the most giant of trees are as little as can be. So my little map of Africa represents my little seed of change. This map would be painted in mixture of orange and brown to represent rebirth as in the color sun which births each and every new day and the earth out of which every plant on earth is born. I'm hoping for a new day for Africa and Africans.

Day 44 - ROSES AROUND THE LONE STAR
44 days down, 321 go.
Today felt like the quiet before the storm...the Valentines Day storm. As we all know, Valentines day is upon us yet again. A day when over billion cards are sent and Americans spend over $375 million on flowers. Can you feel the pressure guys...cuz really it's a day for guys to sweat and ladies to get. When is it ever the other way around? I propose a VALentines day for guys, perhaps cal is SALentines after a guy named Sal...get it? But I digress.

Nevertheless we men have no choice but to play our positions like the good husbands, boyfriends & lovers that we are and come baring gifts otherwise face the consequences. So as my gift to all the beautiful women in my life, I am painting a rose colored circle of love around my lone star from yesterday. The message is clear...you are the only star in my eyes.

Day 43 - A SOUTHERN STATE OF MIND
43 days down, 322 go.
Today I had a visitor fly in from the lone star state for a weekend of fun and excitement in LA, bringing along that southern hospitality that always aims to please. I was all stressed out trying to make sure the time spent in LA was as smooth as can be until I was reminded that everything in the south is laid back. So for the weekend I'm going to kick off my hurry hurry shoes and put on some easy going house slippers. No stressing about my big decision, this weekend I'm gonna be in a southern state of mind.

So to express this, I will be painting a lone star in the signature red white and blue colors of Texas. I will also place it far away from all the commotion going on in the painting. This stay will reside is a presently uncluttered and somewhat solitary corner of my canvas. Now the trick is keeping this area serene as I continue in the coming months.

Here is a closer look.

Although the white seems to not stand out on account of the canvas being white, I will paint around it in due time as I continue on this journey of 'Life In Color'.

Day 42 - BACK TO MY BIG DECISION
42 days down, 323 go.
It's been four days since I was faced with my ultimate career decision and I am still yet to make one. As any educated person does when faced with such a monumental decision, you take your time and carefully evaluate all options. So I am still in the evaluation stage which I intend to go on well into the weekend. However that doesn't change the fact that ike every major decision, there is a time frame for action and mine is drawing closer and closer with each day.

So faced with this ticking clock, I have decided to paint an hourglass to help articulate and perhaps remind me that I don't have all the time in the world to make my division. So over the next few days when I gaze at the painting like i normally a number of times a day, I will be reminded that people are waiting on me to make a decision. I painted the part of the hourglass that has no time/sand in a cloud-like sky blue hue to represent tranquility because time is not yet a factor at that point...perhaps it's the peaceful part of the hourglass. The part with the sand is painted in brown to represent the earth; the idea of me needing to get back down to earth from the clouds of timelessness to reality which requires that I make my decision soon.

Day 41 - NOTHING BUT THE GYM
41 days down, 324 go.
Today nothing much or exciting happened. I went to the gym and did my cardio routine. The sun was out today in full force so no exciting rainbows. But nevertheless it was a welcome sight. Again I will be adding another triangle to my painting but this time I will be painting it in green because I was struck by an abundance of luscious green as I jogged home through the park near by. That's my color of the day.
