Day 151 - GULF OIL SPILL THREAT WIDENS
151 days down, 214 to go.
Oil from BP's out-of-control Gulf of Mexico oil spill could threaten the Mississippi and Alabama coasts this week, forecasters said on today, as public anger surged over the worst environmental disaster this country has ever experienced. However those on the inside both in the Government and at BP are warning that the blown-out deepwater well feeding the catastrophic spill may not be shut off until August as the company tries it's hands on yet another uncertain attempt to contain the leaking crude. When is enough, enough?

So seeing as the spill is gonna continue for the foreseeable future, I'm just gonna go ahead an extent my oil spill all he way to the end of my painting because I honestly don't see an end in sight for this disaster in the foreseeable future.

Day 150 - AN ORGANIC DAY
150 days down, 215 to go.
Being a Sunday, I decided to head down to my local farmers market for some organic goodness. I'm pretty particular about where I get my fruits and vegetables from. Although I try to shop from the organic counter at my local supermarket, it's never fresh. So once in awhile, when I get the chance I like to hit up the farmer's market and get me some super fresh produce. So I pretty much spent all day today at a farmer's marker, buying everything from carrots to celery to zucchini to roses to apples and all kinds of juice-able veggies. I can't wait to get juicing as I strive for a healthy diet. I try to add juice to my diet once a day but often find out that store bought juices however organic, usually have sugar added. So it's always better to just buy the fruits or veggies and juice them with a juicer. A good way to kick off the day.

So for today's addition, I will be painting the official USDA Organic seal as a stamp on my day of organic exploration.

Day 149 - 40 DAYS AND COUNTING OF BP SPILLAGE
149 days down, 216 to go.
I can't believe that it's been exactly 40 days and counting since the disastrous spillage caused by BP's incompetence and still the blame game /lallygagging is still going on. Although I have to give some credit where credit is due since the cleanup has begun on the beach, I'm afraid its a little too late. The damage has already been done. BP executives are quick to point out that the ocean is vast and this spill can't really have a disastrous effect on the immense ocean. But I liken it to cutting your arm off. You probably wont die and can live on but you life would be severely handicapped forever and that's what has happened to the ecology in the Gulf. Yes this spill isn't gonna kill the ocean, but it has severely weakened and damaged it in an irreparable way just like loosing a limb. We all have to understand that protecting the environment is a selfish act because we depend on the environment for our survival. Why can't these money hungry corporations get it through their heads? they are not robots or aliens, they too will have to live on this earth and deal with the consequences of their environment damaging actions.

So for today's painting, I'm gonna add a 40 to my oil slick to reiterate the absurd reality that it's been 40 days in 2010 and this oil spill is still going on.

Day 148 - IPAD CALLING
148 days down, 217 to go.
So today I went and got an iPad for a friend and I gat to say, those things are pretty sweet. Admitted I had my reservations like most rational people out there who said an iPad is just a glorified iPhone, however the instant you take one for a spin you are hooked. But for those of you considering getting your hands on a spanking new iPad, you have to be ready to got hrough the Gestapo-like process to secure one. First you have to have an iTunes account. Then you need to reserve one at Apple.com. Then you get a confirmation email and are told to wait a few days for you order to come into a store and pick up your iPad. Once you get that email, you go into the store and you have to provide two forms of ID to prove you are the actual person that made the reservation. I guess the almighty Steve Jobs does not want people buying multiple iPads and slanging them on ebay where they are going for up to 3 times the cost. So if you're willing to brave it through this process, you too can get your hands on a brand spanking new iPad. I think I will get one for the road because touring has proven disastrous to my macbook pro. I'm actually on my third macbook pro and I can already foresee me dropping it at the airport again. So I'll give it a few days or weeks to sink in before I take the plunge. I really have no choice but to wait because I could not get two and in order to get another one, I hat to put my name on a waiting list to reserve one. DAMN YOU JOBS!!!!

So for today, I will be painting a little iPad into my movie reel from day 110 because the main thing I'm gonna be using it for if I do buy it will be for watching movies, music videos and viewing photos on those long flights to Australia. Hopefully buy the time I get approved for a second iPad purchase, that version would be able to play Flash movies.

Day 147 - AINT NO SUNSHINE FOR THE SUNS
147 days down, 218 to go.
The Los Angeles Lakers are halfway to another NBA finals, and we already know who we want them to play next...Boston. Artest went hard and beat the buzzer with a wild shot after rebounding Kobe’s miss, and the Lakers defeated the Suns 103-101 to take a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference finals. Kobe had 30 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists for the Lakers, but the improbable hero of Game 5 is the only new player on the roster; Artest and now we are one win away from the NBA finals. For the third straight game, the chants rained down from the Staples Center crowd in the final minutes: "We want Boston!"

Since I love the Lakers just as much as I love Ironman, I have decided to donate on of my Iron man rings to the Lakers cause. To be exact, I will be changing the reddish hue attributed from the color of Ironman's suit which I used to represent Ironman's domination of the worldwide box office for a second week to the signature Lakers color; purple and yellow.

Day 146 - GRADUATION DAY
146 days down, 219 to go.
Today was graduation day for my cousin who braved it through nursing school despite the loss of someone very dear and close to us all. So all day we were in jubilation mode as the whole family was filled with pride on such a monumental achievement. The wine was flowing, the food was serving and the congratulations were bestowed as we all congregated at the family house to express our joy and continued support.

So for today addition, I will be painting on a graduation hat. Also since it's a celebration, I decided to put it on top of my birthday balloons from day 86.

145 - NOTHING BUT THE SPILL
145 days down, 220 to go.
I tried to gather my thoughts for the day in order to put it down on canvas but one thing above all keeps overshadowing everything else. And that's the oil spill which is still going on. I cant believe it's STILL going on. It's been 35 days since the spill begun and it's officially reached the shores of New Orleanes. Like New Orleans really needs more shit piled on it. I think criminal charges should be thrown into the mix of repercussions on BP and all the players in this disaster. However as one of my readers pointed out a few days ago, we too are culpable with our insatiable thirst for oil to fill the tanks of out Hummers and F-150's.

So to show my remorse for the part I've played in this ecological disaster, I will spill the oil slick on my painting unto part of my strength triangles at the bottom right of my painting. And as the oil spill continues to creep further and further into the beaches of Louisiana, so will the oil slick on my painting further and further into my strength triangle structure. This will stand as a metaphor for black/dirty strength which oil is to us. It is a symbol of our strength as it powers our industry and military. However it is very dirty and by slowly destroying the environment, weakening us at the same time. It's the ultimate irony because in that which brings us strength, lies our weakness. Weaknesses not only in it's environmental destruction but also it our dependence in rogue nations, funding their campaigns to harm us.

Day 144 - JUST SO WE ARE CLEAR™
144 days down, 221 to go.
It has been brought to my attention that in some instances, trademarks are represented with the '™' symbol and not just the '®' symbol. So in order to ensure that there is no confusion about my trademark claim, I'm gonna also include the '™' symbol just so there is not confusion.

Day 143 - AND THE SPILL CONTINUES
143 days down, 222 to go.
I'm practically running out of space at the base of my canvas to represent this disastrous oil spillage caused by BP. However it serves as an effect helps to clearly convey the message that this ecological catastrophe is still going on. It been over a month since the explosion and still thousands of gallons continue to spill into the gulf of Mexico by the hour. I guess I can't really say it enough, I'll just let my painting speak for itself.

Day 142 - NEW YORK CALLING
142 days down, 223 to go.
Today a dear friend came to visit all the way from New York putting me in an empire state of mind all day. So today as a take no prisoners tell it like it is day...just like typical New Yorkers. It's always fun to entertain someone else other that your self but it can get a little tiring. Nevertheless, we persevered and made it through the day in one piece.

So my painting for today is going to reflect a New York state of mind. And what's the one landmark/iconic piece that represents the big apple, recognizable no matter where in the world you find yourself? The statue of liberty. Thus I will be adding lady liberty's signature crown on top of my smiley face from day 83.
