If you live in LA you will know what a rarity it is to have rain. That's exactly what I woke up to this morning and It couldn't be a more welcome sight. For a city that sees rain fall maybe 3 or 4 times a year on average, this was a treat. It reminded me of the tropics where I grew up.
So as you can imagine, that was my inspiration for the day. Rainfall symbolizes renewal, the washing away of the old. So I guess I can finally say 2009 has been officially washed away both figuratively and metaphorically. Let's go 2010.
To paint the raindrops, I borrowed the color scheme from my stream from Day 6 to represent water. If water equals life then raindrops are God's gift of life drops from heaven. Think about that the nest time you see it rain.
Also my 'celestial cluster' seems to be getting all the action over the last few days I'm wondering if this is a sign form mother nature herself saying she approves of me Mosaic 360 - Life In Color. After all if you really think about it, this masterpiece is a tribute, an homage to life and nature is life. First the sun then the stars then the moon then the triangle of nature and now raindrops. What will tomorrow bring???
Here is a closer view.

Today was my first day back in the gym since the holidays. Now the arduous tack of working off those extra pounds from numerous Christmas and New Year's dinners lies ahead. As usual I tried to get fit in one day, working out for almost two hours. I need to pace myself because I probably not gonna start seeing results until at least the third week of consistently working out.
In nature, the triangle is the basis of every structure in physics, the most powerful strangest most lasting structure. The Egyptians used if to build pyramids that were intended to last forever. From DNA strands to molecular structures to tripods, you can see a triangle in everything if you just squint your eyes.
Black is associated with power. Also black denotes strength and authority; it is considered to be a very formal, elegant, and prestigious color (black tie, black Mercedes), etc. So I will be painting my pyramid with the color black. All that is left now is to figure out where to place it.
Sine I already had a smaller triangle from Day 9 withing my aptly titled 'celestial cluster', I just built upon it to make a larger triangle that extended beyond the celestial cluster.

Seeing the moon out tonight got me thinking will we ever put a man on the moon again. It's been over 30 years since we last visited the moon...what gives? I guess we didn't find oil there.
So the moon is my inspiration today and I will be painting it with a grayish hue boardered by strokes of white. And where else to place it other than my 'celestial cluster' currently featuring the sun and stars.
Here's a closer look.

If you remember the late 90's MTV series 'Migraine Boy' then you'll know how I felt today. I woke up with a splitting headache and that set the tone for my day. For some reason, I couldn't shake the migraine even after three doses of Ibuprofen. So as a result, I was kind of in a mood all day. I guess this is my first migraine of the new decade...and the crazy thing about it is that I don't usually have migraines.
Maybe I'm stressed because that's pretty much my doctor's diagnosis every now and then when I come up with a migraine. His remedy is always go take a long bath and sleep. So that's what I'm gonna do right after I represent this migraine on my painting.
Borrowing from the 'Migraine Boy' character I have represented my migraine with black zig zag lines all converging at a point which represents my head.

9 days down, 356 go.
A few weeks ago, I ordered a black & gray Louis Vuiton checkered print colored battery case for my Blckberry Bold phone. I LOOOOOVE my Blackberry bold and anything I can do to better my experience with it, I will.
The only catch was that I was ordering it from China and the instructions read "Delivery date not guaranteed". So a couple weeks passed and still nothing. At this point I had already lost hope and written off my $12.95 paypal payment. So you can imagine my surprise when I saw what the mailman left in my mailbox today. Low and behold it had finally arrived in all it's 'obviously knockoff' glory. Here is a picture below.
So as you can guess, this is going to be the inspiration for my addition to the masterpiece today.
Here is a much closer look.

The stars came out tonight and for the first time this year, I saw the north star. If you're like me and you live in LA, you know what a rarity it is to look up in the sky and see it full of stars. This is due to the thick layer of smog that exists between us and the stratosphere. Thanks for the break smog.
So I decided to paint the north star into my mosaic and what better place to add it that on the celestial body already existing in the painting...the sun.
I will be using a bright yellow and some white hues to represent my North Star because as I look out my window right now, it looks exactly like that...bright yellow with some white hues.

7 days down, 358 to go.
It's no secret that I am a Longhorn fan and as I watch Texas take on Alabama at the Rose Bowl, I can't help but predict a Longhorn upset at 9:45pm EST while the game is in it's second quarter even though it does not look that way right now. Colt McCoy seems to be down for the count and Alabama is up 14-6 but the optimist in me wont allow me to give up hope just yet.
So as an homage to the Longhorns win tonight (fingers crossed), I have painted longhorns into my mosaic with their signature orange color to mark this day. Nothing else matters at this point...GOOOOO LONGHORNS!!
I added a little yellow to my sunrise from day 3 because once I was done with the Longhorn signature orange, I needed to differentiate it from my sun's orange.
Also to mark my first week into this project, I have included a digital composition of all additions from the past week.

6 days down, 359 to go.
Today was my quiet day. I decided to turn off my phones for the day and just lay in bed for practically most of the day. Since I haven't taken a day off like this in a long while, its was a rare treat. It does feel good to 'do you' once in a while and today I did just that.
So when it came to my painting session, all I could liken my day to was a tranquil lake or stream of water flowing blissfully. So I am going to paint just that with varying shades of blue to represent the water.

Im gonna scrap the time limit I put on each session because during my initial assessment of this project I felt I needed to restrict the time I spend on the canvas per day so as to have stuff to paint throughout the year. But as the days go by, it is increasingly becoming apparent that I'm spending more and more time on the minutest of detail. So I guess it's better to focus on the idea to represent on the canvas each day and spend as much time as needed to effective execute that idea without going overboard. I don't think I will ever run the risk on running out of ideas to paint because as long as I am alive, I will have daily experiences. I just have to be careful not to paint too much over previously painted ideas.

5 days down, 360 to go.
Like most people after the xmas holidays, I was taking a couple gifts back to the stores to exchange them for more specific items that I wanted. Of course with the typical LA traffic, this turned into a 6 hour ordeal of which 4 of those hours was spent in LA traffic.
So the theme for today is 'congestion'. So I'm gonna need to represent the idea of congestion that we all experience in our everyday lives dwelling in a major metropolitan city. And not just traffic congestion but congestion of all types including long lines, airport traffic, advertising over-stimulation, etc.
The color I will use to represent congestion is a mucky greenish hue which is the color of decay, muck and garbage. Because if you look out your window in any major metropolitan city, all the glitz and glamor sit atop vast sewers and waste systems that is generated daily from the congested populace.
